من أفضل أشجار الظل المتوسطة إلى الكبيرة المتوفرة شجرة فيكس 'Indian Laurel'. موطنها الأصلي آسيا وهاواي، وهي شجرة دائمة الخضرة تزدهر في الجنوب الغربي. يفضل هذا الصنف أحادي الجذع المناطق المعرضة لأشعة الشمس المباشرة للنمو. وتُعد مظلتها الواسعة الممتدة، التي تتميز بأوراق خضراء زاهية تُضفي جمالاً على أي مكان، بلا شك إحدى أهم مميزاتها. نعشق زراعتها في أي مكان حيث تكون وفرة الظل مفيدة. عند وضعها بشكل مناسب حول المنزل، توفر مظلتها ما يكفي من الظل للمساعدة في تبريد المبنى، مما يؤدي إلى انخفاض تكاليف المرافق وتوفير مساحة داخلية أكثر راحة في الأيام الحارة.
