Inch Plant (Tradescantia zebrina) | Hanging, 20–30 cm
Description
Few hanging plants deliver colour this striking with this little effort. The Inch Plant cascades from its pot in waves of metallic purple and silver-striped foliage, each leaf catching the light differently as it trails downward. The upper surface shimmers with iridescent purple and silver bands, while the underside glows a deep magenta — the kind of colour combination that looks almost too vivid to be real.
Key Features
- Stunning metallic purple-and-silver striped foliage with magenta undersides
- Trailing habit at 20–30 cm — designed for hanging baskets, high shelves, and plant stands
- Fast-growing and easy to propagate — cuttings root in water within days
- Low-maintenance and forgiving — thrives in a wide range of indoor conditions
- The only Tradescantia in our collection — a must-have for any trailing plant display
Why It Works in Dubai
The Inch Plant grows vigorously in Dubai’s warm interiors and adapts to the bright, filtered light found in most apartments and villas. Its trailing stems cascade beautifully from high shelves, macrame hangers, or elevated plant stands, creating a curtain of colour that softens hard edges and bare walls. It is one of the fastest-growing trailing plants you can own — give it decent light and regular watering, and it will fill out a hanging basket in weeks.
Care Snapshot
Light: Bright indirect light; good light maintains the vivid purple and silver colouring
Water: Keep soil lightly moist; water when the top 1–2 cm feel dry
Humidity: Moderate; comfortable in most indoor environments
