Livistona Chinensis, popularly known as the Chinese Fan Palm, is a popular ornamental plant native to Taiwan, China, and southern Japan. This palm grows slowly, reaching a maximum height of 30 feet, though it usually reaches only 15 feet. The plant consists of a single trunk with a crown of large, fan-shaped leaves that can reach a maximum length of six feet. The bark on the trunk is fibrous and brownish-gray. The Chinese Fan Palm's leaves are a vivid, glossy green with many deeply divided segments that give the leaves the appearance of feathers. Little, yellowish-white flowers are produced by the plant and are carried on long, branching inflorescences that emerge from the leaf bases.
