Native: Because it is a hybrid, Alocasia 'Polly' lacks a particular native habitat. It is bred from native species found in Southeast Asia's tropical rainforests. Alocasia is a member of the Araceae family, which is also referred to as the Arum family. Other well-known plants in this varied family include Monstera (Swiss Cheese Plant), Caladium (Angel Wing), and Zantedeschia (Calla Lily).
Plant Type and Habit: Rhizomatous and evergreen, Alocasia 'Polly' grows in upright clumps as a perennial. Because it is sensitive to cold temperatures, it is mainly grown as a houseplant in temperate regions.
Size: Suitable for indoor spaces, the plant typically reaches 1-2 feet in height (30-60 cm) and spread. Because of its small size, it works well on tabletops, shelves, or as a component of a larger indoor garden setup.
Flower: Yellow flowers that resemble calla lily flowers are occasionally seen among the older plants' vividly patterned leaves. On the other hand, flowering is uncommon indoors.
The most notable characteristic of Alocasia 'Polly' is its foliage, which can grow to a maximum length of 12–18 inches (30–45 cm). A visually appealing aesthetic is created by the contrast between the dark green leaves and their striking veins.
Hardiness: This hybrid is delicate and should be planted outdoors in USDA zones 10–12. In cooler climates, it needs to be protected indoors; it grows best at 65°F to 75°F (18°C to 24°C). African Mask plants are true tropicals; they need lots of water, warmth, and humidity.
